Braggs-apple-cider-vinegarMy grandmother was thin active woman who lived until she was 93 years old. I remember she used to drink a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar daily.

She said it was cleansing. I tried it forget about cleansing that stuff was hard for me to drink!

A few years ago I started looking for natural ways to cleanse and low and behold I stumbled upon Apple Cider Vinegar. It seems that Apple Cider Vinegar not only works as a natural laxative it also is considered to be a *natural fat burner*.

What to Buy

You should purchase *organic apple cider vinegar*. You want the vinegar that has the mother (enzymes) floating around. You will know that the product has the mother if you see something resembling stringy globs floating inside the bottle. It’s a good thing.

Apple-Cider-Vinegar-Capsules

If your not keen on drinking the apple cider vinegar you can purchase the apple cider vinegar capsules.

How It Works

Apple Cider Vinegar helps detoxify the liver which plays an important role in weight loss. I have heard that it aids in speeding up metabolism and I’ve read that it helps burn the calories.

I take apple cider vinegar daily. I add two teaspoons to a cup of water. I sip it slowly. If it too acidic you can add a natural sweetener, like honey or agave nectar to the mix) I’m at my ideal weight it does seem to curb my appetite and it also helps keep me regular. I think of it as my *natural laxative*.

  1. I hate to be totally nosey, but have you posted your actual weight anywhere?

    Just curious…You know me…

Either way, I’m ordering some of this organic apple cider vinegar!

    Thanks for the tips,
    Paula

  2. Hi Paula!

I’m 5′, and about 107 pounds. I don’t weigh myself. I used to a lot. I never really struggled with my weight the closest experience that had was after my daughter was born it took about four months to get back to where I used to be and even longer to get back the figure I used to have.

I get approached a lot, when I’m in the gym, about weight loss techniques. I guess I look approachable I enjoy sharing with others. I mainly started it as an online resource to family/friends who ask me about healthy eating habits and simple exercises they can do at home. I always tell them that they don’t have to be veggie to be healthy.

I’m working on a testimonial section since I believe people will be more inclined to pay attention to the results they have seen from others who are like them.

They will receive more attention, by some, that I can give since I really didn’t face this issue. I was on the sidelines. I watched friends & family members and listening to what they would tell me about their struggles.

I think it’s important to create something that a person can stick to since not everyone is ready to take a huge leap. Changes can be extremely hard for people letting them know it’s ok to take baby steps is I believe very important.

It took a hard time for me to get used to the regular ACV but I still drink it, lol.

If you have any tips on what you would like to see please let me know. It’s still a baby and I’m definitely open to suggestions. Eventually I’ll start adding fitness videos both my own and from others but at the moment I’m just focusing on writing, lol.

Thanks for stopping by it truly is appreciated.

  3. Opal - this post must have been inspired by your earlier post about your grandmother! Soo sweet. I think she passed her legacy of natural healing down to you, you lucky girl! Nice post! I knew ACV was good for you but now I know a lot more about it. Thank you!

  4. Thank’s teeni! There is not a day that goes by when I don’t think about my grandmother. She inspired me in so many ways. I write exclusively about alternative remedies at Healing Yourself Naturally.

  5. On my last shopping trip i bought myself a bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar. I didn’t really have an actual purpose or intended use for the cider. I have just seen it so many times….lately……on various veggie recipes, so i bought it (just in case).

To be honest i don’t think i can drink it as it doesn’t look appetizing. But also i don’t need to lose weight. hehe. I’m already thin. (and beautiful) lol. just teasing.

    Missy.

  6. I quickly want to add, that the capsules sound like a good idea. Thanxs for the tip, opal.

  7. Missy,
Thanks for stopping by it has a lot of other uses. I looked at this post and realized it is lacking so I’m going to follow up with a part two from the alternative standpoint.

Apple Cider Vinegar is a great hair clarifier, good for aches and pains, stimulates bile production, loaded with vitamins, etc.,

I agree it’s not appealing. I’m finally at the point where I don’t scrunch up my nose when I drink it.

My metabolism has always been high but if you want to lose weight it’s definitely a keeper. I wanted to drink it after my daughter was born but my daughter didn’t seem to like it (she nursed.)

  8. I am going to give this another whirl…I’ve had this in my cabinet and used it in dressings. I found it hard to “drink” too but I will try it again. I think it would be a good cleanse too…thanks. I have also used just a small tad in my “kids” water…I heard it helps with fleas…very small amount, actually.
Thanks for this info and push…I need it!

  9. I’m willing to give anything a shot once. I’m a vinegar fan anyway. I had read about this once before, but hearing about your grandmother makes me think I should give it a second look.

  10. Harmonia,
You should try it out. It’s also great for cleansing. It helps eliminate a lot of mucous.

    Lisa,
Well see your ahead of most of us. It is hard for me to take but it is very good for you. They also claim it’s good for the immune system. I’ve read numerous claims about this product and have been using it for a while.

  11. If I can remember to actually START it again…I forgot again today…sigh…I’ll shoot for tomorrow!

  12. It can be hard, I know. Why not set yourself a virtual reminder or take a bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar to work that way if you forget to do it at home you will have it at the workplace. You can sip on it throughout the day. :-)

  13. My goal is to do lemon juice at night and ACV in the morning. Last night = success, this morning = in progress of being a success. The ACV will take a little longer to “chug” than the lemon juice…lol

I also woke up and did yoga for a bit this morning. I’m really going to have a good day. I already know it’s going to be a busy one so I want to try and MAKE it a good day…

  14. Harmonia!

Congrats you’re doing well. I’ll be heading to the gym in a few hours.

  15. I got a little woozy from the ACV today for about 30-45 minutes but I am fine now. Do you think it is because I am just not used to it? Just wondering if you had heard of that before. I only did about a tablespoon in a cup of water…or a little more than a cup of water. Half way thru I added more water. That’ll wake ya up, eh!? haha

  16. Hey Harmonia,

Did you drink it fast? That’s something you definitely have to sip slowly especially if you are just starting to use it or if you are taking it on an empty stomach. It can hit you like a ton of bricks! It’s a great way to clear you out and curb your appetite however.

  17. I sipped it. ick. I ate a bowl of “cereal” (which I normally don’t do, I’m just not a fan) with Almond Milk about an hour prior.

I did the lemon juice last night but I didn’t do the ACV this morning…I’ll do that night instead.

    I didn’t wake up early today…haha.

  18. Hey,
So i tried the ACV thing with water and i only made it through about 1/4 of the cup, but today i just quickly drank 2 tablespoons of the straight ACV, and it was much easier for me than having to bear through the whole cup of water. Is it still effective if i don’t mix it with water?

    thanks, kelsey

  19. Harmonia,
 I’m not a fan of sipping the ACV either.

    kelsey,
I don’t see why it would not work you’re just taking it straight instead of mixing it with something else. I’ll hunt to see what I can find on that and update.

In the meantime I’m going to try taking it straight like you are doing. I’m not sure why I haven’t tried that.

I eat raw garlic straight. Thanks for sharing!

  20. Thankz for the tips. don’t heard abt this before.

  21. hey..
thank you soo much for sharing this tip!
    does it really work?
i really want to try… because im a 15 year old girl and i weigh70..my height is 5′3
    please help..
    thnks..

  22. Saniya,
It can but it’s important to remember that you need to combine this with a healthy diet. How are your eatings habits?

What types of foods do you normally eat in a day? If your eating habits aren’t so great do you think it’s possible that your parents can provide healthier food choices? Exercise can also help speed up weight loss.

  23. Greetings:

I am a bit perplexed with the information that claims that organic ACV can/will help a person lose weight.

I have been taking a shot glass of organic ACV everyday both morning and night for three months. At the time of writing this message, I have yet to lose a pound!

I need to lose about 50 pounds. I have endeavored to keep my eating habits and lifestyle the same, as a form of “controlled experiment” to see if the ACV actually works on weightloss. Unfortunately, I have yet to see any physical benefits in the area of weight loss.

I would sure appreciate a response to my deliemma; possibly, telling me what I can do different.

  24. Hey Ron,
I think it depends on the individual it mainly works at curbing your appetite on its own it might not be as effective then again it depends on what type of foods you are eating and if you are taking any medications some of them can lead to weight gain.
Their are other foods that can be used with weight loss like grapefruit, Hoodia goordonii, green leafy vegetables, drinking plenty of water, apples, etc.,

  26. Wow, apple cyder vinegar. Blah. I can’t stand the smell of vinegar, let alone the taste. But I have heard of good stuff with the apple cyder vinegar, like using it to get rid of bad dandruff.

    Makes me gag though.
    Great post.

  27. Watch drinking ACV and Lemon juice together, you may damage your teeth with all the acid. Drink it through a straw and dilute it with water. Personally I think the apple cider vinegar tablets are a goo option, with the diluted lemon juice! Dental Assistant

  28.
I have now taken 2 bottle of ACV I taken it once a day with my main meal. I mix two tablespoon in a glass of water before meal but from now I will take it twice a day. I do believe in ACV because I now feel a lots better than before . Thank to ACV.

  29. Please tell me more about how taking two table spoon of Apple Cinder Bragg Vinegar can help me to lose weight. Do you have a book about the benefit of Bragg Vinegar for your health, heart, weight, and so on?

    Thank you!

  30. Yeah,

It does work I have been doing it for quite sometime now. And trust, I have no time for fads!!!!
I make a tea out of it. I use about 1tbs of vinegar in a mug of hot water and sip it warm. It relaxes my me after a hard stressing day. However you take it just make sure you drink plenty of WATER! If you don’t you will be full of GAS!

  31. Just now finding this, but I’ve been interested in vinegar for a while.

Now, I really love vinegar in general–in soup, on salad, on steamed veggies, etc. And yet, when I tried to do a shot of it, I nearly hurled. The tea mixture doesn’t sound any more appealing to me. I think I will try it, though.

It’s good to see real people posting here about their experiences, I am encouraged to give it a try once again.

  32. Seems to me I heard something about ACV years ago there must be somthing to it if it`s still floating around.at the worst it will pucker you up so you can`t eat anything else LOL.

  33. Thanks for the tips. I am a mother of two and gained a lot of weight during my pregnancies. Before my pregnancies, I weighed 150. After them, I weighed 240. About last week I read in a book that ACV was good at weight loss. I tried it and feel a lot better. I’ve always had difficulties with my bowels, but not anymore. Since I have been drinking ACV, I have been doing number two at least once a day. I’ve also believed that I lost a few pounds the first week. I used to weigh 235 (my height is 5″6). Now I weigh 225. My goal is to weigh at least 170 before six months. Wish me luck.
Those of you trying to lose weight, don’t get discouraged. Eat right, exercise frequently (I exercise at least 30 minutes per day), and drink lots of water. I hope the best to anyone pursuing that new sexy you.

  34. I am a huge fan of ACV. I have found it is much easier to pour two tbs. into a shot glass.. take a deep breath in then out and take the shot without it (hopefully) hitting my tongue so I really can’t taste it. It says on the bottle to take it before the gym also for a little pick me up. Has anyone tried that?
